Pyramid Flowers takes pride in being a sustainable flower farm producting stunning flowers in the most conscientious way. Specific attention is given to managmeent of Water, Soil, Energy, Pests and Rycycling programs.
Water
High efficiency drip irrigation is utilized in field and greenhouse production to decrease water consumption.
Technologically advanced monitoring systems are used on well water pumps to insure appropriate water consumption.
All water pumps utilize variable drive systems to reduce the use of water and electricity.
Greenhouse hydroponic systems reclaim and sterilize water used creating zero water waste.
Soil
Soil is amended with nutrient rich compost and analyzed monthly to insure appropriate and efficient us of fertilizers.
Minimal use of soil tillage is employed to preserve the natural structure of soil in the field, protecting this precious resource.
No fumigation of soil is done. In place of fumigation, steam sterilization is used in all planting beds.
Energy
All greenhouse lighting has been upgraded to LED lighting and is placed on cyclical lighting programs to conserve electricity.
Climate controlled computer systems along with weather station technology is utilized to specifically control greenhouse environments. Precision management of vents reduce the need for heating.
All tractors meet stringent California emissions standards creating less pollution and more efficient use of energy.
Pest
A pest scouting program is in place to better predict the presence of insects and improve the ability to react in a sustainable way without use of chemicals.
Mass trapping tape is utilized in all flower production areas to trap pests in leu of spraying and use of pesticides.
Bio controlled insects are introduced as natural predators allowing nature to control the pest environment without the intervention of chemicals whenever possible.
Recycling
All green waste is placed in specified green waste roll of containers and is utilized for compost. More than 1000 yards of green waste is recycled annually...
All carboard is bailed and recycled. More than 600 tons of carboard is recycled per year..
Plastics are separated from trash and earmarked for recycling.
